A Few Swimmers in the Open Sea (1989-1995) (REVISED)

The title arises from a loose translation of ‘rari nantes in gurgite mare’ (from The Aeneid – Virgil) and while on an immediate level this work visualizes the physicality of the male  embracing an amniotic sea, it has as a subtext the notion of an island people always trying to escape but always being drawn back to their homeland.
